Parenting

Becoming a parent can be a time of many conflicting emotions; happiness, fear, excitement, exhaustion, and confusion, just to name a few. While raising a newborn, it is very common to feel stress, disconnection, and strain in your relationship. In the Bringing Baby Home Program parents build relationship satisfaction and create healthy social, emotional and intellectual development for their children.  As a certified Brining Baby Home Educator I use this research-based approach to prepare you and your partner for a life with baby and help you be the best parenting team possible.

In a relaxed and supportive environment, you will learn to strengthen your relationship and foster your baby’s development during this time of change. We build on what Dr. Gottman found is the best predictor of marital adjustment after baby arrives: the quality of friendship in your marriage. The program provides the opportunity to plan ahead, so that new parents can keep their friendship strong and develop strategies for parenting intentionally.

This approach combines scientific research and public education to improve the quality of life for babies and children by strengthening their families. It teaches you as new parents, how to gain relationship satisfaction and create healthy social, emotional, and intellectual development for your children.

Couples who have participated in the program:

  • Were more satisfied in their relationship and were more likely to stay together.
  • Were better prepared to bring their baby home
  • Were more able to work together in family play and in co-parenting, with greater father involvement anymore secure father-infant attachment.

Benefits for Children:

  • Had stronger language skills.
  • Smiled and laughed more during family play at 3 and 12 months of age.

In my practice, I can teach parents these research-based tools in individual family sessions or within the workshop group format. Please contact me for more information or any questions you may have.
